What is muay thai?

Muay thai, also called Thai boxing, is a striking martial art that uses punches, kicks, knees and elbows. That is why it is called the art of eight limbs. A key part of muay thai is the clinch: close-range fighting where you control your opponent's balance.

Muay thai builds endurance, strength, coordination and flexibility while teaching discipline, respect and self-control. It is one of the most effective ways to get physically stronger and learn to defend yourself.

What a class looks like

  • Warm-up and mobility prep.
  • Technique: stance, movement, punches, kicks, knees, elbows and combinations.
  • Partner work with pads and bags, controlled and safe.
  • Conditioning: endurance, strength and speed.

Beginners learn technique first. Sparring is for advanced members and only when the athlete wants it.
